This is the place where you can personalize your profile!
But, how?
By moving, adding and personalizing widgets.
You can drag and drop to rearrange.
You can edit widgets to customize them.
The left side has widgets you can add!
Some widgets you can only access when you get a premium membership.
Some widgets have options that are only available when you get a premium membership.
We've split the page into zones!
Certain widgets can only be added to certain zones.
"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!
Now go forth and astound us all with your devious profiles!

Jewish Art

Hi guys, as some of you may know I am a practicing and proud Canadian Jew. I went to hebrew school for 10 years and speak the language fluently. I am not completely observant, although I do keep kosher and I can admit I'm not the best jew out there...but I did spend this summer in Israel.
So being me, I was bored so I typed in the words yiddish, then hebrew, then jewish into the search for DevArt.
For yiddish is was some gag yiddish slang used all around the world even in non-jewish communities (e.g. shmutz, oi vey, putz, kvetch etc.) For hebrew is was scrolls and magen davids presented in various beautiful ways.
For Judaism...an overwhelming majority were photos of cemeteries. This, to me, is a little disturbing. The jewish people have been known throughout the centuries for their art. When I visited Israel there were so many beautiful sculptures, paintings, stained glass EVERYTHING! It was incredible and gorgeous. There were also so many themes and subjects!
There is so much more to us than the holocaust, we have over 5 thousand years of history before that! There is more to us than deaths. I don't mean to disrespect anyone, that was an awful tragedy that affected the whole world; my own family included. But why is it that the word 'Jew' must be immediately linked to 'death'?
From now on I'm going to start making more jewish art, I'm going to make hamsahs and menorahs, kabbalah paintings and charms. I'm going to help in bringing back the memory of the original themes of jewish art: family and belief.
Help support Jewish art. Help to bring it back to it's roots!
I'm not Jewish, but in grade-school, I was "raised" by Jewish female teachers. They helped make me who I am today . . . I loved your Comments about Jewish art on your page. Come visit sometime . . . Richard
I spent ten years in hebrew school and just like non-jewish teachers you get the really good ones (Morah Tovi) and you sometimes get...ICK can't even think it.
Anyway, I'm glad I reached you! Your gallery is great by the way!
